Plastic materials are increasingly being used in product development across a wide range of industries, including automotive, electronics, home appliances, and medical devices, taking advantage of their light weight and durability. However, plastics such as polypropylene (PP) and polycarbonate (PC) have low surface wettability, which can lead to insufficient adhesion in bonding and coating processes. In applications where long-term stable quality is required, surface treatment is especially essential.
There are various methods of surface treatment. Common approaches include primer treatment using chemicals and mechanical treatment. However, when environmental regulations and the need for greater production efficiency are taken into account, these methods are not always the most suitable solution. For this reason, manufacturers are looking for technologies that not only deliver effective surface treatment, but also contribute to higher productivity and reduced environmental impact.
