Exhibition Report: Automotive World 2026 Tokyo
Nihon Plasmatreat exhibited at Automotive World 2026, held at Tokyo Big Sight from January 21 (Wed) to 23 (Fri), 2026. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who visited our booth during the exhibition.
In recent years, the electrification and increasing electronic content of vehicles have driven growing demand for highly precise surface treatment technologies in the manufacturing of automotive semiconductors and electronic modules. In addition to surface pretreatment solutions for automotive applications, this year’s exhibit also featured new plasma nozzles for semiconductor manufacturing processes. As a result, the booth also attracted attention from visitors attending NEPCON JAPAN 2026, which was held at the same time.
Live Demonstrations of Plasma Treatment
During the exhibition, we conducted live demonstrations of atmospheric-pressure plasma treatment in front of visitors.
In particular, technologies that enable the joining of dissimilar materials without the use of adhesives received strong interest. Visitors also showed considerable interest in the process-related advantages shared across our technologies, including VOC-free, primer-free, dry processing without the need for drying steps, and suitability for inline integration.
Showcasing New Plasma Nozzles for Semiconductor Manufacturing
We also presented new plasma nozzles for semiconductor manufacturing applications.
The exhibit featured two types: one based on a conventional model with further reduced particle generation during processing, and a newly developed particle-free design. Both were introduced as solutions capable of meeting the high cleanliness requirements of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
Through this display, we presented Plasmatreat’s latest plasma nozzle technologies designed for advanced manufacturing environments.
Introducing Plasma Pretreatment and Coating Technologies for Automotive Applications
At the booth, we focused on automotive applications such as vehicle battery components and presented atmospheric-pressure plasma pretreatment technologies together with ultra-thin functional coating technologies based on plasma generation.
Openair-Plasma®, our atmospheric-pressure plasma technology, improves wettability and increases surface energy through plasma cleaning and activation of a wide variety of materials, including plastics and metals, in pretreatment processes for bonding and painting. We introduced this technology as a pretreatment solution that helps ensure stable bonding and coating quality. In particular, many visitors showed strong interest in its applicability to in-mold coating, which has become an increasingly important trend in recent years.
We also introduced PlasmaPlus® as a coating technology that provides functional properties such as corrosion protection, improved bond strength between dissimilar materials, and insulation, despite its ultra-thin coating thickness.
In addition, we presented REDOX®-Tool, an oxide-removal and oxidation-reduction treatment technology that enables flux-free processing without the use of formic acid treatment or chambers, as well as HydroPlasma®, a cleaning process that delivers higher cleaning performance than conventional low-temperature treatment while using only water and no chemicals to remove oils, inorganic contamination, and flux residues.
Looking Ahead in 2026
As our first exhibition of 2026, this event lasted only three days, but we were very pleased to welcome many visitors to our booth.
Nihon Plasmatreat will continue working closely with customers to provide the most suitable plasma surface treatment solutions for their applications and challenges.
